Art Show - Cultivation of Art

In the History of gardening in the 20th century the name most often cited is that of Gertrude Jekyll. Probably, we all know that she was one of the foremost gardeners of her time, but she was a skilled, trained artist, and channelled her love of colour into wonderful works of art. Miss Jekyll was not the first and will not be the last to arrive in the garden to let that garden tell its story onto the canvas. It is from this inspiration that Vale’s Greenhouse proudly presents “Cultivation of Art”.Vale’s Greenhouse has teamed up with 40 local Alberta Artists. Every artist
is looking for a place to display his or her work; Vale’s Greenhouse is always on the hunt for an interesting project. Maryanne Jespersen from Maryanne’s Eden, a galley in Black Diamond, thought the garden and greenhouse setting would be perfect for an art show and sale. So after a brief meeting we are now proud to present this unusual opportunity to wander threw our beautiful garden centre and admire wonderful works of art.
We have chosen Artists that reflect the sprit of the Foothills. Southern Alberta area is teaming with people of as many talents as tastes. The 2010 show was extremely well attended and many people left with a new piece of art for their home. The 2011 show is going to be not only bigger but will show a larger range of art. From wearable fabrics, Oil and water colour paintings to woodcarving, pottery and silver jewellery we will satisfy any tastes.
Vale’s Greenhouse is pleased to be involved in such an undertaking and hope that you will enjoy all the art that will be displayed through-out the greenhouse area. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the garden and make the day of it. An artist reception will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Saturday June 26th 2010.
